The Chamber of Commerce is usually the first place the people think of when they are in need of information, or a specific product or service. The chamber staff handles many referrals daily about businesses in Dana Point. In an effort to provide increased business growth to our members and to give them a competitive advantage over non-members we refer only Chamber members to those making the inquiry.

Business Advocacy

The Chamber is the voice of the business community in local, county and state issues. We represent our members by assisting in promoting economic development and an improved quality of life.

Member to Member Discount Programs

Chamber members have the opportunity to offer their goods or services to other Chamber members gaining the potential of hundreds of new customers. See Member Discount Program and Member Advantage Program.

Mailing Labels and Services

Members can obtain complete direct mailing information of up to 500 businesses for a nominal fee. This assists members in developing a data base of business prospects.

Newsletter

Membership bulletins and newsletters help members keep informed about Chamber programs and activities. Members receive the Chamber’s official publication Dana Point of View along with e-mail blasts and updates.

Chamber Websites

The Dana Point Chamber maintains websites on the internet with Chamber members’ information listed free of charge. Once a visitor hits our member directory the official Chamber website links to our members’ websites. Our visitor site assists people coming into our community and directs them to our member hotels/resorts, restaurants, retail, services and Harbor attractions. This offers members an internet presence with a full service active data base working 24 hours a day. This also translates to unlimited referrals for your business. Consumer Complaint Services

When a consumer has a complaint, they often contact the Chamber of Commerce first. If the business is a Chamber member, our staff makes every effort to keep the problem on a local level by referring the complaint directly to the member. If a complaint is received about a non-member, the Chamber will not become involved. Rather, the customer is referred to the proper agency. By serving as an intermediary between our members and consumers, we assist members to establish and maintain a positive business image

Referral Directory

A Membership Directory is mailed to members, residents and distributed to new members. Only chamber members are listed, both alphabetically and by business classifications. This provides high visibility to potential customers.

Visitor/Tourism Guide & Map

This publication includes information on dining, lodging, entertainment and related services. 20,00 copies are distributed through various Visitor & Tourism Centers, the Chamber Office, City Hall and Hotels/Resorts.

Newsletter Advertisements

Chamber members may place an ad in the Dana Point of View your source for current business information.

Chamber Website Advertising

As an advertising partner, you can take advantage of the Chamber website’s high volume of traffic. You have the unique opportunity to advertise and further attract potential customers to your business.

Tax Deductibility

Membership in the Chamber is 100% deductible as a business expense.

Free Legal Consulting

Three Chamber member attorneys are available for a free initial consultation to chamber members. Legal consultation is available by phone or in person by appointment from either Bruce Beal (481-5555), Kirk Lapple (562-431-1284) or Fred Pardes (443-3400)


Information Display

Members may advertise and promote themselves for free by displaying their information in the Chamber lobby. This provides participating Chamber members businesses exposure to a significant number of visitors annually. There is no fee to members for their business cards or flyers display. This opportunity is not available to non-members.

Business EXPO

Once a year, at the Chamber’s Annual Business EXPO in May, members may purchase display tables for a nominal fee to showcase their products and services. This event is held in partnership with the San Juan Capistrano Chamber at the beautiful Mission San Juan Capistrano.

Member Advantage Program

Chamber members offer discounts to current members of the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce. Participating members are listed, along with the discount, on the Chamber website at www.danapointchamber.com. This program is tied to the Chamber Member Discount book.

The Chamber will provide new members with a Chamber Member Discount book. This book offers discounts at various Chamber member businesses. And members may offer discounts through this book as a way of encouraging members to utilize their products or services.

Grand Openings/Ribbon Cuttings

The Chamber will promote your grand opening/ribbon cutting ceremonies. These events will increase the visibility of new and expanded businesses. We will provide newsletter coverage and will e-mail a photo of the ceremony to our members.

The Chamber provides numerous special events each year. Sponsoring an event gives companies an incredible amount of marketing exposure. Our Chairman’s Circle sponsorships also provide constant recognition at all Chamber events

NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES

Coastal Networking Mixers

Held on the third Thursday of each month, these networking events bring together an average of between 50-350 business people together. Members may host mixers and grand openings, an excellent way to promote their businesses.

Business Breakfast Meeting

The Chamber will hold a breakfast for new members twice per year. Current and new members may enjoy lively networking and programs that include vital community information and business building topics.

Committees

Members may participate in any of our committees that cover a range of interests that impact our business community. New business contacts simply come with the territory.

Membership Orientation

Twice a year, all new members are encouraged to participate in a breakfast program designed to explain Chamber benefits and attendees can learn how to utilize the Chamber to enhance their marketing of their products and services to new customers.
SPECIAL EVENTS

Festival of Whales Street Faire

This Chamber sponsored event is a significant fundraiser held in conjunction with the Festival of Whales and the Annual city-sponsored Parade. Includes Arts & Crafts booths, kiddie rides and food booths. Average attendance is between 4,000-6,000 participants on each day of this two-day event.

Turkey Trot

This event in its 29th year has international recognition and hosts participants from more than 40 states and elite runners from foreign countries. The Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County receives partial proceeds. This event is the major fundraiser for the Chamber and all members are encouraged to participate.

Annual Meeting of Members

The Annual Meeting of Members, Installation of Officers and Awards Ceremony is held in January. The evening highlights the Chamber’s accomplishments from the past year and goals for the future. In addition, the incoming Chamber Officers and Directors are installed. Also at this event, the Chamber presents its “Citizen of the Year” and “Business of the Year” awards to the deserving recipients.
